There was a time not too long ago when the business implications of social media were unclear; resistance to it on the part of corporations, therefore, was somewhat understandable. Web 2.0 seemed like just the next Internet fad in a series of many, and while it was viewed as having value for individuals and enthusiasts, it didn’t seem viable for corporate use. But corporations need to realize that social media is here to stay — and that in it lies the future of marketing.

The days of mainstream media monopolizing information is long gone, with certain blogs attracting millions of visitors each month as people seek out a more personal spin on information. And as the web becomes more social, people are beginning to value relationships and conversations more than the passive consumption of information. BusinessWeek’s concluding advice: “Catch up…or catch you later.”

Social media is a lot more than just blogs, however, and a combination of blogs, social news and networking sites, along with new ways of consuming media online (YouTube, Flickr, Last.fm) have changed the world of marketing and advertising. No longer is it just about broadcasting your pitch and plastering your message all over the place; instead people expect corporations to engage with them through social platforms in a person-to-person fashion.

One term used to describe this evolution is Social Media Marketing; another is Conversational Marketing — a practice that involves engagement and interaction, a two-way communication rather than a one-way flow of information. While some companies continue to struggle with this new form of marketing, others have embraced it wholeheartedly. One such company is Samsung, as is evident in the marketing strategy for their latest phone.

Rather than relying on traditional forms of marketing, Samsung has created brand and product pages on the leading social networking platforms such as MySpace, Facebook and Bebo and has launched a campaign that places the role of marketing the product squarely in the hands of their current (and potential) customers. The company is asking them to record songs and upload them to a community that Samsung has created where others vote for the ones they like best; the four winning songs will be featured in a national radio and online ad campaign.
Today it’s proven that Social Media Plays an Important Role in Online Marketing.

Sending emails with the purpose of acquiring new customers or convincing old customers to buy something immediately.

What is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?

”SEO in an act to make a website healthy and rich for search engines and visitors. Healthy denotes the site should have relevant information for visitors and rich denotes the site should ethically ranked and rewarded by the Search Engines.”

The very common and generic question by any internet savvy is how to get the rankings?
SEO guru provides you 10 easy steps to get the rankings.
- Planning & Strategy
- Domain Selection
- Analysis
- Keyword Research
- On-page Optimization
- Off-page optimization
- Submissions
- Web Analytics Deployment
- Tracking
- Reviewing

Advantages of SEO

SEO is potentially the most important search marketing approach for marketers since most searchers click on the natural listings or organic listing. The human mentality of reading from left to right always intend us to focus on the lft part. Indeed, research shows that some searchers NEVER click on the sponsored listings.

Generally, the 80:20 rule holds true with 80% of the clicks on natural listings and 20% of the clicks goes on the paid listings.

A key benefit of SEO is that it is relatively cost-effective since there is no payment to the search engines for being placed there. What you need to do is to hire ethical SEO company or if you have your own in-house development then better option is to for a SEO Consultant.

Disadvantages of SEO

Beside this there are some disadvantages behind the search engine optimsation process. As the web is spreading the competition is spreading. You have to be more prompt on each and every activity related to search engine algorithm.
The major risk behind the SEO is for those innocent owners who doesn’t know more about the search engines. They can easily ditched by the seo agencies using non-ethical techniques to promote the website. At that time rankings make you happy but once you get penalized you lost your domain , your business and a lot .

Is this enough? No you need leads, sales and business from your dumb website. Hire an ethical eMarketing company to achieve your goals.

As the term defines Search engine marketing, marketing through the search engines. SEM is the single biggest opportunity in Online Internet Marketing, which is unsurprising given the growing popularity of search engines for researching products, services and organizations. With this the tern search usage dependency comes out, which means What search? Which user? Which Search Engine?

There are lot of challenges and risk behind SEM. Challenge in the terms of ROI (return of investment ) which you have to provide to your client. Risk in terms of the algorithm change of any search engine.

Web surfers love search, they use search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, Altavista etc and pass the query to find the only thing they wants. They might be looking for cheap air tickets, golf courses , latest video etc. In the ear of search engine war each and every search engine claims the results relevancy of search.

The Goal of Search Engine Marketing is to connecting searchers looking for your information related to your brand with what they are looking for. It helps your brand visible within the search engine to attract new visitors to your web site. SEM helps site owners meet their online marketing objectives such as generating leads, sales, branding and awareness spreading to their target audience.

There are three basic approach of Search Engine Marketing.
- Natural or Organic Listing
- Paid Listing
- Through Third Party sites.
